How will my order be shipped? How much will it cost? TOP

Domestic orders for as many bead, jewlery, and lampworking supplies as you like are shipped via USPS Priority Mail for $5. However, if you are ordering spinner mugs, an additional $4 is added for the first 1-4 mugs, and $9 for each additional 1-4 mugs. Insurance is highly recommended. You can add insurance to your order during checkout.

What size are the bead holes? TOP

Lampworkers generally use two sizes of rods when making beads:
  • 1/16" (~ 2 mm)
  • 3/32" (~ 5mm)

1/16" or ~2 mm Holes - This size is great to make anything that will be used with a headpin or eyepin such as earrings. There is not much space left around the headpin for the bead to wobble, so it is a good fit. This size is also good for use on beading wire such as tigertail or accuflex or using stretch cord. They will also string onto smaller diameter leather (.5-1.5 mm) and C-Lon thread for macrame and finger weaving. The hole may be too small if you want to use heavier leather or other thicker cord or fiber or to put on a chain with a pre-attached clasp. You can sometimes punch organza ribbon through the holes, but I would not recommend a fine ribbon such as silk.

3/32" or ~ 3 mm - This size will fit more readily onto leather/rubber cord, ribbon, wire, or chain. I try to make focal or large beads and pendants in this size. Also, all borosillicate beads are made in this size.

Other Hole Sizes - New sizes are available such as 1/8" and larger sizes. These create a unique opportunity to expand your jewelry making techniques. Also, lampworkers may work "off mandrel" meaning there is no preset size for the hole, they either create a loop in the flame, or poke a hole directly through the glass for simple stringing. I have 1/8" and 1/4" mandrels for special requests.
